Autumnal Sunset - A choker and cuff Little Treasures

Hello and Happy Monday to you all!

This whole week is going to be slightly different on the blog, so we are skipping the instagram inspiration Mondays which has been the practice here for quite a long time.

Instead I want to prolong the promotion of my Victoriana collection that went live on Friday.

For those of you who missed it, here's what it is all about.

vacation angry chicken

IMG_20180509_174034_602

We recently went to Kauai and was magical. We all love it there so much. We were staying on the south side, far away from the water damage and flooding from last month. This photo was taken at Shipwreck Beach. Unreal.

We hadn't been there in the two years and I feel like there was even more amazing food than before. We stayed in a condo so we could cook and and take full advantage of the farmer's markets.

Unrelated to all of this, I am sewing high fashion vintage style doll clothes. It's addictive and kind of sadistic. I am also getting ready for my birthday this week, which means not much really. But I think I will schedule a pedicure. I am trying to get motivated to deal with our yard, but I am bad at yard clean up. I'm great at buying plants, however.

The Victoriana Collection Little Treasures

The Victoriana collection inspired by the Victorian era as the name suggests, aims to accentuate femininity through mixed media designs that embrace velvet and jacquard ribbons, vintage fabric, lace, soft pearls and cotton yarn.

The focus on the collection is on necklaces, chokers accompanied with cuffs and brooches and they all offer a luxurious and regal look. The designs can be worn with both formal and casual outfits to create an edgy and modern look with the right touch of drama.

Throwback Saturday: How to Mend Your Jeans The Renegade Seamstress

One of my earlier posts from exactly 5 years ago today I still remember crackin myself up while writing this

Mend Your Jeans Tutorial

Today I feel like Bill Murrays character, Bob, in the movie, What About Bob, one of my all time favorites. It is a hilarious laugh fest throughout every scene. In the movie, Bill Murray portrays a man riddled with anxiety who has every phobia in the book. He accidentally ends up  on vacation with his psychiatrist, played by Richard Dreyfuss, and ends up driving his doctor completely out of his mind. My favorite scene in the movie is when he is covered in life jackets and tied to the mast of the sailboat joyously and triumphantly proclaiming,

IM SAILING! IM SAILING!

sewing: double brushed poly stasia top imagine gnats

This post is written by Heidi of Handmade Frenzy.

I am loving my new double brushed poly Stasia Top, so much!!

I fell in love with the print on this fabric the minute I saw it. The colors and the floral motif just drew me in. Unfortunately, this print has sold out, but there are lots of other double brushed poly prints and solids to choose from in the shop! This print is my current in-stock fave.

I think this fabric is a perfect match for the Stasia Dress and Tee pattern. It has sufficient stretch and such gorgeous fluid drape!

The Stasia Dress isnt a silhouette I normally gravitate towards, but soon after it released, Jess from La Mercerie posted a top hack on her blog, and I was completely smitten. She kept the overall effect of the dress, but shortened it to a top length and straightened out the center front seam.

You can see the post with the step-by-step changes here.

I made a few more slight changes in addition to hers. I eliminated the skirt center seams entirely by cutting the pieces on the fold and only shortened the bodice 1 inch instead of the 1 1/2 inches she did on hers. The last adjustment to her instructions is that I only have a difference of 1 inch between my front and back hem lengths.
