sewing: double gauze hadley top imagine gnats

This post is written by Teresa of Dandelion DriftHadley Top

Hey there imagine gnats readers! Its Teresa from Dandelion Drift and I am so excited to get back into contributing over here at imagine gnats! And what a week to get back into itHadley week! I cant wait to share my double gauze Hadley top with you!

I love grainline patterns, so it is no surprise that I love Jens newest pattern, the Hadley top!

Hadley Top

Hasnt it been fun watching all of these ladies share their take on the Hadley top? I love that each of us used the exact same pattern, but not one of us made the same combination of the versions that are available!

Jens pattern drafting skills are pretty amazing; in one pattern there are a whole slew of variations that you can come up with!

Hadley Top

I went with the v neck, sleeveless top, which is a straight view b (well, I made one tiny modification, which Ill go into in a minute). As you saw throughout the week, Jen has two views, but they are really interchangeable.

View a is the jewel neck, long sleeved top, but you can grab the long sleeves from view a and sew them with view b. And you can also sew view a (the jewel neck) without the sleeves! I love a pattern that can be sewn up many ways!

Hadley Top

So the one tiny modificationI raised the neckline 1/2. I was a little nervous about the lower neckline, but Im amazed that this top doesnt gape. It sits snug against my body along the neckline!

The drafting and sizing is perfect. I sewed a size 4, graded out to a size 6 at the hips, which is where my measurements placed me.

Actually, I did one other little modification; I hand stit...

Floats Cowl Purl Soho

Our Floats Cowl may be even more beautiful than a photograph can convey. Theres much more to this simple cowl than meets the digital eye. In fact, its what it isnt loud, wacky, complicated that makes it so special.

Floats Cowl | Purl Soho

Named for the floating slip-stitched strands that form vertical columns on one side, the Floats Cowl is knit in the round in a crazy-simple 2-round stitch pattern.

Floats Cowl | Purl Soho

Knit up with just 3 skeins of our incredible Season Alpaca, this cozy, soft baby alpaca fabric wraps twice around, like a swaddling blanket for your neck!

Floats Cowl | Purl Soho

Theres no right side to a Floats Cowl: both sides are lovely. And while it is really simple to make, it is truly intriguing to the knitters eye!

Floats Cowl | Purl Soho

This project designed for Purl Soho by Jake Canton.

Welcome Fall quirky reclaimed wood pumpkin sign Funky Junk Interiors

This summer when I painted my front door Bayberry green, I was soooo looking forward to playing with fall and Christmas decor against it! Its such a lovely natural moss green tone that just seems to go with anything. Nature never fails as inspiration, does it? So blame this project on my 2nd Starbucks pumpkin []

Crochet Tubes Kit and Pattern Testers Wanted! Little Treasures

Ok. So this week seems to be all about requests and offers.

Those who have been here for a while know about the crochet tubes kits I've been hinting here and there and they are soon to be ready for sale. We've started a collaboration with a local yarn producer and their crochet yarn is incredible. I have been using it for ages and I am happy we can finally offer it along with our patterns.

The tube necklaces have been the second pattern we created eons ago and it has proven to be a best-seller. Although very simple in stitch, the necklaces are real head turners. Especially those made out of variegated yarn.

dollhouse minis angry chicken

IMG_20170916_085932_054_resized

I have been getting crazy working on my dollhouse. There's a story there, about my dollhouse, but I will save that for later. It's never been finished and I am finishing it now, slowly, and it's so fun. I've had it since I was about 5, I think. This is a dollhouse I made for the dollhouse.

Wood floors. This trick I learned in architecture schoolyou lightly draw pencil lines on balsa and paint with a watercolor wash.

These plates were printed on cardstock and pinched for a 3D effect. They have about 5 layers of clear nail polish on them. My Grandamother gave me Blue Willow china so this is to honor her. The clock face is glued on a button.

A yarn rug and some art minis, I used packing tape on the artwork to protect them.

sewing: linen hadley top imagine gnats

This post is written by Lindsay of @lindsayinstitches

I adore Grainline Studio patterns. Somehow Jen manages to create styles that are on trend but completely classic at the same time. The Hadley pattern is no exception, especially when worn as a linen Hadley top.

The theme on the blog this week is How do you wear your Hadley? As you have already seen from the other contributors, there are so many ways. Given the season change, my initial thought was that my Hadley should have sleeves, but then I wondered how the tank might work as a layering piece.

I decided to go sleeveless like view B, but with the jewel neckline and pleated keyhole back from view A.

When deciding on a fabric for my Hadley (available in the shop as both a digital and printed pattern), I was immediately drawn to this beautiful linen in the shop. Doesnt it just scream fall to you? Makes me want to eat all things pumpkin!

Having worked with Brussels Washer Linen before, I knew it would have just the right weight and drape for this pattern. All the texture of traditional linen but none of the stiffness. Hooray for 45% rayon content!

The earthiness of the linen was giving me a strong sweater vest vibe, but in the best way. I decided to roll with that, and Im loving how this looks over a crisp collared shirt! Im also thinking it could be fantastic over a stripey tee or under a cardigan.

Thats what is so great about this pattern. It comes with multiple views built in, but when you mix up fabric, layering, and styling, it can be that much more versatile.

Made a new Fan! Enchanted Doll

Im afraid Ive been keeping a secret from you guys, but I can finally tell you!

There was some big news the other day, and a little Enchanted Doll played a role in a grand announcement. This was a top secret doll that I made last year and was finally unveiled (not literally, the dolls veil remained intact).

I was asked to create an Enchanted Doll of the beautiful Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, as an engagement gift by her partner Li Chen

One of the conditions I had for taking on this commission, was that I would have a complete creative freedom to design her Enchanted wedding gown. I used vintage French lace, Victorian millinery, parts of antique Kinfisher pin, dazzling Swarowsky crystals and of course, hundre...
