White & Grey Chunky Scarflette Little Treasures

Hello guys! I present my newest scarflette. Actually, it's not that new. I think I made it last year, but as it happens with a lot of my work, it doesn't get to see the light of day immediately. This one is going to join my bohemian collection of scarves and there will be several other forgotten ones join the pile.

The scarflette is made out of chunky yarn and edged with boucle yarn. It is irregular in shape - a little bit funnel resembling. It closes with a big pearly button and the holes in the pattern allow different buttoning options that add up to the varying looks it can have.

Well, that would be all for today! Have a lovely weekend. Signing off...

How to Make a Rag Wreath Simple Simon and Company

Today we are going to walk you through how to make a rag (or ragged) wreath.

First you need to gather your supplies. For this project you will need two things:

#1. A wire wreath form.  (I bought mine at the Dollar Store.)

#2.  A pile of fabric cut into strips.  I like to cut my strips into pieces about 1.5 wide and 8 long.

Now all you need to do is tie those strips onto your wreath form.

There isnt one correct way to do this but I have found a method that spreads the knots out evenly and makes your wreath look nice and full.

Here is what I do:

I tie one strip of fabric around the middle two rungs:

Then I tie one strip of fabric around the inside two rungs and another strip around the outside two rungs.

mini pies angry chicken

These mini-pies were made by the girls a bit back and I made extra dough, so I am hoping they will make more for next week. They were delicious. We are having a small low-key Thanksgiving this year with my family. It's rainy and dreary right now, I'm hoping for better weather next week.

I am up to my eyeballs in costume sewing 3 shows are happening in the next 2 weeks (get your tickets for The Portland Ballet's Holiday show here! And Vancouver Dance Theater's Nutcracker tickets here!) all of which I am sewing for.

I've never worked on this many shows at once and even though at this very moment it's a bit bonkers, I still love it and am so happy to be making hats for 5-year old candy lemon drops, researching how to make a bustle, buying prom cummerbunds for a dollar, shopping goodwill and finding just the right thing for my Nutcracker party parents, embellishing 1940s style dresses, finishing mouse pants, wiring tutus, dyeing bodices, and hand-beading ballet headpieces. The 3 shows are all very different and my sewing room looks like a a crazy mad house.

Keeping me company during all of this has been Parks and Rec, which I had never seen. I'm up to season 5. I mostly listen, I can't actually watch, so I know I am not seeing a lot of the best stuff, but even listening to it is making me so happy. It's so greatthe perfect thing to have in the background so I can both focus and not get all moody and weird which can happen when I think something is taking too long. I'm getting a lot better at reminding myself "it takes as long as it takes" and letting it go.

sewing: flannel christmas pajamas imagine gnats

This post is written by Brooke of Olivers Fancy.

We have a tradition every year where I try to make handmade pjs for Christmas Eve. I was doing some research on what fabric I wanted to use this year when I came across this Kaufman mammoth flannel. And the lightbulb went off- flannel Christmas pajamas would be perfection!

I love all the Mammoth flannel but this flannel in red is particularly perfect for Christmas.

I used the Parsley Pants pattern for all three boys pants. This is a great basic kid pants pattern, and I love using it. It does start at 2t so I did some guestimating on sizing it down to an 18 month size pant for Charlie, and it mostly worked.

I should have allowed a little more room for the big diaper bum so theyre a bit tight in his hip area but not unwearably so.

The big boys are wearing a size 5 and 7 I did size up for each of them because I want these to fit all winter. You can tell theyre nice and roomy, but I think they look super comfy! I love this little patch pocket I added to the back for some fun contrast.

Oh, and Rachael even sent me some elastic for the waistbands. Did you know she has elastic in her shop? I didnt and now Im super pumped to know that because its so convenient to just order the elastic with my fabric!
